La Habra Tamale Festival : This annual gathering returns on December 3, 2022, for its ninth year of celebrations. From 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., attendees can visit Portola Park in La Habra to check out the food, live performances, and local vendors as a kickoff to the holiday season. This includes the Tamale Festival’s popular tamale contest, which awards winners in two categories: Muchacha/Muchacho for those aged 17 and under, and Senora/Senor for those 18 and older. Be sure to stick around after the sun has gone down to see the city of La Habra’s annual holiday tree-lighting ceremony and fireworks.

Skating Under the Stars : You can have the best of both worlds in southern California. Beautiful weather all year round, and winter attractions during the holidays. At the Irvine Spectrum Center, enjoy ice skating under the stars from November 4 through January 8 in the Giant Wheel Court. Nearby, the 75-foot decorated tree will glow every night with a choreographed light show every 30 minutes beginning at 5 p.m.

Breakfast with Santa : Breakfast and Santa Claus are a winning combination. Throw in Charlie Brown, and your kids will have an experience they’ll never forget. This year, head to the community center in Tustin for breakfast with Santa Claus on December 3 at 9 a.m. The event will include a pancake breakfast, pictures with Santa, crafts, a Charlie Brown movie, and more. This event will fill up, so be sure to call and reserve your space.

Safe Celebration

Decorating your home in La Habra, California, for the holidays is one of the great joys of the season, but it’s important to do so safely. According to the American Red Cross, fires caused by candles are four times as likely to occur during the winter holidays , so it’s important to make sure you never leave a burning candle unattended. One safe alternative is to use battery-powered candles that can achieve the same effect.

Additionally, Christmas trees can pose threats in terms of both fires and damage if they fall. If you have a real pine tree, be sure to keep it properly watered to prevent it from drying out, and make sure your tree is safely positioned to prevent it from falling on pets or children. Click the following links for more information on Winter Holiday Safety and Christmas Tree Safety from the National Fire Protection Association.

This holiday season is shaping up to be a memorable one. With plenty of holiday activities, performances, shopping, and volunteer opportunities to choose from, you’re set for a joyous and safe time.
