Our Maintenance Team Is Here for Your Holiday Appliance Maintenance Needs

Spooky season is over, and the holiday season is here, bringing all the festivities and fun that come with it. Now is the time to start your holiday traditions, like breaking out your decorations from storage or cooking up your favorite family recipe.

But you can’t cook if your kitchen appliances don’t perform properly. In a survey of more than 381,000 appliances, Consumer Reports calculated that 6 percent of respondents reported problems with cooking elements not lighting or heating up on ranges, while 5 percent of people reported refrigerators that didn’t cool properly. An even larger 11 percent of people said their dishwashers stopped properly cleaning.

Don’t let a kitchen snafu ruin your festivities: If you take part in these holiday appliance maintenance tasks, you should be set to have a magical season!

Start with a Deep Cleaning

The holidays are a very popular time for cooking big meals. However, dirt and grime build up over the year, so by the time the holidays roll around, your appliances might be working at half capacity trying to cook a full-capacity meal. To help you maximize your kitchen, consider giving your most-used appliances some detailed attention.

Take some time and work through all the appliances in your kitchen. Pull the fridge out from the wall and clean out the dust from the mechanical coils . Turn on the cleaning function on the oven and scrub the stove, making sure the burners and heat elements of both ignite fully. And check on your dishwasher. If your dishes come out dirty, try setting a single dishwasher-safe cup of white vinegar on the top rack and running a full cycle. These extra steps will help ensure a happier holiday season.

Do a Cooking Dry Run

Whether you are a prolific chef or an occasional home cook, it is a good idea to test your appliances before you cook for the holidays. It doesn’t matter if you whip up a sample holiday meal or just bake your favorite casserole. The important thing is to get your appliances running as they would on the day you are going to cook. Then be sure to load up the dishwasher to make sure everything comes clean. If you run into any problems, you will know well in advance and will have time to set up an appointment for the appliance to be repaired.
