We Reduce Our Use of Paper and Plastic

At Summerwood, we go paperless by doing everything that usually requires paper—rent payments, service requests, applications, and notices—online. Not only is this convenient for our residents, but it eliminates the need for unnecessary paper waste. 

In our community, we strive to provide quality services to help make your life as a resident a little easier. Visit our new resident portal to pay your rent online, enter a maintenance service request, browse our calendar for upcoming activities, and much more! 

Additionally, we have a water bottle refill station to encourage our residents to use eco-friendly reusable water bottles, which significantly reduces the waste from plastic water bottles.

We Save on Water

La Habra is prone to droughts, so we do what we can to use water sparingly. To start, our property has drought-tolerant landscaping, which means we use plants, such as succulents, that we don’t have to water as often. We have also installed a drip irrigation system and replaced some grass and mulch areas with beautiful stone. This allows us to save thousands of gallons of water on landscaping alone! 

Indoors, we save water with our plumbing system. The average toilet uses about 3.5 gallons of water every time they flush, but not ours! We have low-flow toilets , which use about 20 percent less water than regular toilets. Each toilet can surprisingly save up to 13,000 gallons of water per year.

We Advocate for Recycling

One of the best ways to be more eco-friendly is to recycle. We have recycling bins in our office, and we encourage all residents to recycle as well. Items you can recycle include plastic bottles and containers, empty cans, paper, and flattened cardboard. However, you cannot recycle food, liquid, plastic bags, plastic wrap, or cups with wax or plastic coating.

Organic waste recycling will be coming soon to our local community, and we can’t wait to participate!
